The adobe of clouds

Suvbharat Times, 16/12- Meghalaya is the most beautiful state of India. This is the land of Khasis, Jaintias and Garo tribal, who have still preserved their unique heritage and culture. The pristine beauty, salubrious climate and unique vegetation of Meghalaya makes it a paradise for nature lovers and botanists, and it’s literally meaning is ‘the adobe of clouds’. Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya.
This is perched at an attitude of 1496 meters and is one of the finest hill resorts of India, and is a hill station in the northeastern part of India. This Virtual fairy land of lush rolling hills reminiscent of the Scottish moors receives plentiful rain. Its innumerable streams meandering through the hilly tracts, cascading waterfalls and placid lakes are a sight to behold. Bara Bazaar is the oldest and most important market of Meghalaya.
This Bazaar is mainly run by women, providing an insight into the State’s tribal culture. The State museum lies within the premises of the State central library and has a fine collection of artefacts of Meghalaya and other North Eastern States. The scenic beauty of the region is enhanced by a number of gushing waterfalls.
